Hi Bulls!
Finals week is almost here. For most of you, that means late night study sessions and lots of stress. Unfortunately, that also means you’re probably not thinking too much about what you’re eating. But did you know that what we eat has a huge effect on how we feel physically and mentally? Eating a good blend of certain foods will not only give your body the nutrients it needs to stay functioning properly, but it’ll also keep you satiated so your mind can focus on what you’re learning. Here is a list of great study snacks to curb your hunger. Bonus for those of you still on campus: you can find all these items at our POD markets (Juniper POD at Juniper Dining or Bulls Xpress at Argos)! This is a perfect solution if you’re looking for a way to spend the rest of your dining dollars this semester.

- Fruit – Raw fruit is a quick go-to snack that’s easy to eat. Any fruit you choose will be loaded with vitamins and minerals your body needs to stay healthy. It’ll have fiber to keep you feeling full. But most importantly it’ll have natural sugars that your body will use for energy! Did you know your brain can only use glucose for energy? Make sure you eat enough carbs to fuel your mind for studying.
- Pretzels or veggies with hummus – Hummus is one of my favorite spreads to eat with practically any type of snack. You can eat it with bread or pita, raw veggies, pretzels or chips, on a salad… the possibilities are endless! The hummus has protein which is another essential nutrient that keeps you feeling full. And the veggies or hummus add a nice crunch to satisfy your snack cravings.
- Granola or fruit and nut bars – Granola bars are a great way to satisfy your sweet tooth without overdoing the added sugar. Yes, most bars are made with honey or brown rice syrup, but these ingredients have more nutrients than the plain sugar found in candy bars. Some yummy options at our stores are KIND bars and Clif bars. Or you can use this recipe to make your own! Watch my demo video below to see how quick and simple it is to whip these up. You can swap out the dried fruit and nuts for whatever your favorite flavors are!
There are tons of other tasty snacks available at our POD markets. If you go shopping, let me know what you find in the comments below!
